Fix The High Cost Of Poor Health And Our Budget Problems In One Fell Swoop

It seems like everyone is looking for ways to cut expenditures from the national budget to avert a national crisis.

And the choices are: (1) cut entitlements, i.e., Medicare and Social Security, or (2) raise the taxes on the affluent. In the short-term it’ll probably be a mix of both. But what if there is a better way that will get to the root of the problem, and put us on a firm foundation for the future? Our long-term prospects don’t look good unless we get a handle on the high cost of healthcare.

As Dr. Michael Roizen has affirmed:  “$1.5 trillion of healthcare spending is waste .

Unfortunately, most of the dialogue about the fiscal-cliff negotiation is focused on treating the symptoms of our ailment; we’re looking at overspending, not waste; at diabetes, obesity, heart disease, not poor nutrition; at symptoms, not causes.

We need to get to the root of the problem!
